Successful Continuation of the MOBILE MACHINES Conference – Safety and Driver Assistance for Work Machines!
After a four-year break, the 8th MOBILE MACHINES conference took place on 18 February, 2025 in Karlsruhe. The event was hosted by the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) and organized by the Institute‘s Mobile Machinery Department (Mobima) with support from FVA GmbH, and offered a platform for interdisciplinary exchange between research and industry.
The conference was opened by Institute Director Prof. Dr.-Ing. Marcus Geimer, followed by an inspiring keynote speech from Prof. Dr. Katharina Schmitz on “Smart mobile working machines: Data collectors and data users.“
Over the course of the day, around 80 conference participants were treated to 11 expert presentations. The presentations were divided into different sessions focused on the following topics: “data management,“ “sensor technology and environment recognition,” “assistance and AI,“ and “autonomous driving.“ The presentations and the subsequent discussions provided insights into current developments and practice-oriented solutions for making work machines safer, more autonomous, and more efficient.
In addition to the presentations, the accompanying technical exhibition offered an ideal opportunity for networking. Hydac, InMarch, M&M Software, and MOBIMA e.V. also presented their latest developments and current projects.
The conference concluded with an evening event at the KIT’s east campus, where the presentations were reflected upon and discussed in a relaxed setting. The MOBILE MACHINES evening event was also the kickoff for the “10th Hybrid and Energy-Efficient Drives for Mobile Machines“ conference, and offered many opportunities for interesting discussions. The evening event was sponsored by Bosch Rexroth.
We would like to extend special thanks to the speakers and the advisory board, whose expertise made a significant contribution to the success of the conference. We would also like to thank all participants, exhibitors, and sponsors, and look forward to seeing you again in Karlsruhe.
